First, you put a lockdown on all mod creativity on BF3. You milk everyone dry for any new map or pack. You churn out another sequel much too quickly (imo). Still give no mod support. And now, Gamespy is being shut down. For the double whammy, they are shutting down online capabilities for BF2, BF2142, and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I think I'm totally giving up on buying any game from a big name developer. We pay, we play, and they pull the plug.

There is hope for some of bf2. The guys over at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! are pushing through with a way to continue support for online in their mod. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! But beyond that, it will be up the community to figure out a way. Which luckily such a solution can be found. When they decide to pull the plug on BF3, being that its a locked game, you will have nothing but a CD, that you'll get more enjoyment out of by snapping it in half. Or EA will make you pay for it again when they release some sort of new Origin or something.

Maybe the days of PC gaming are over. At least from the development studios of bigger name companies.
Whats the point of buying a game that has a 1-2 year life span? The new business models game developers use are severely taking advantage of a gullible market and its sad. Because people still buy it. Not that I'm mad an anyone in particular. Its upsetting not to be able to play a classic, well designed, fun game.
Sorry its not car related. So here is a guys RHD MR2 with a boat load of extra interfaces.

I stopped buying EA after they stopped letting Forza have Porsches.

This might sound like I'm defending EA (eww), but GameSpy shutting down is out of their hands. GameSpy isn't owned nor run by EA. Perhaps they shouldn't have relied on a third party for multiplayer functionality on those games, but they did. If GameRanger can fill in, then fine. My point is that EA can't take all of the blame here.

The gamespy issue was always a problem from their initial implementation. And yeah, its not entirely their fault, but they did have quite a number of years to attempt to fix this....
I blame EA for throwing the PC/mod community into the mud. And i blame them for not taking responsibility for the life of their games. Some things are out of their control, but please, dont tell me they cant fix something. At least be honest, and just say "we are not going to fund this project any longer, because im sure its about cash flow. Hopefully GameRanger pretty much solved it. That is if it works like they say it will.

EA can and will always do worse. PC gaming certainly isn't dead though. There's a wealth of indy content in all genres that're great or going to be great.

I have been pissed at EA since they ruined Maxis, and Westwood games. Sim City, awesome. All the way to even SC4, but then... killed.
Command and Conquer, the same story. Westwood churned out the best damn games, then EA released generals and some more sequels and they were lost.

Gamespy's dead? Man that's a blow straight to nostalgia land. Used to use gamespy back in the Quake II era. God those were the days of good FPS
"Let's get it on with the killing" was the sound bit as you connected to a dedicated server running the weapons and grappling hook mods, your pinki hovers over the tilde to bind in the command console, and everybody rocked low teens in ping.
'Scuse me, think I'm gonna have to pour myself a drink and boot up Win98

I was going to make an inspirational paragraph on the indie games but i wanted to get a point across haha. I am greatly impressed by all the indie developers and i am very grateful they are willing to make awesome games. Mojang, Beamng, Project reality... and so many more.
